Thanks Dan and guys for your valuable input and discussion. Indeed, the application of Carb heat and the aderance SOP's are very important. I hope the previous threads on this, including mine, regarding the operation of carb heat in various scenarios, highlights the importance of the usage of this important area of Luscombe (and other types of) operation. I must emphasise that the previous general rhetoric has covered the C-85/90's but not specific to the C-65, although the only difference is the application of Carb heat remaining on for take off, landing and touch and go. ( no problem leaving it on with 85/90' on landing and during touch n go's of course - just consider performance issues as also in the 65 case).

Her is a picture of my 8A in Sunny South Africa.
Airfield alt is 5500' and at around 26C the density alt sits at around 8000'. Yet she performs nice with 2 adults up of 87kg each and just about a 1/2 tank of fuel.
